Graduate Assistant Lei Yu and Dr. Julia Valla from the University of Connecticut and Drs. Azeem Farinmade, Oluwole Ajumobi, and Vijay John from Tulane University recently published their collaborative research on “One-Step Hydropyrolysis and Hydrotreating Tandem Reactions” (10.1021/acs.energyfuels.1c02453) in Energy & Fuels, December 16, 2021 Vol 35 edition. Their research details how the drop-in biofuel can be produced directly from a one-stage hydropyrolysis and upgrading process using a novel Ni-ZSM-5/Ni-MCM-41 composite. The tandem deoxygenation and hydrogenation reactions occur in one catalyst particle.
