UConn’s AMES Students Participated in Beyond UConn Expo 2020

UConn’s Center for Clean Energy Engineering’s (C2E2) graduate students Orvy Polanco and Aubrey Tang participated in the Beyond UConn Expo 2020 on February 18. Orvy and Aubrey, Advanced Manufacturing in Energy Systems Master (AMES)’s students, were at the event to discuss continuing education beyond undergraduate graduation and to share their experience as a graduate student in the AMES Master’s program as well as working in engineering in the field of clean and sustainable energy at C2E2. Beyond UConn Expo was an event for graduating students to assist with their next steps following UConn graduation.

The event consisted of a Resource Fair offering both University and outside resources to soon to be graduating seniors. The Resource Fair offered a variety of resources relating to life after college, including UConn’s Graduate School, employers, and job hunting. Aubrey and Orvy joined other graduate students and shared their experiences with those graduating seniors who were considering a Master’s program or graduate assistantship at UConn. They were able to network with undergraduate students about the AMES program, the graduate school application process, and life as a graduate student.

At one of the breakout sessions, Aubrey spoke on a panel. The panel consisted of Aubrey and fellow graduates, Santana Mowbray and Steven Feldman, and was facilitated by a moderator.  Questions were asked of the panel members focusing on the topic of Graduate school.  Aubrey (an UConn undergraduate of May ’19) enjoyed connecting with undergraduate students and sharing in her experience.

The event was well received and all participating enjoyed ice cream from the UConn Dairy Bar.
